Italy Grand Driving Tour – Alfa Romeo

The cars, the legends, the roads that made Italy

June

About This Tour

Go behind the scenes at Alfa Romeo, discover a private collection few travelers ever see, experience the timeless world of Riva and visit Ferrari country – then take the wheel of a classic Alfa Romeo for four days on the roads of Tuscany.

1
Milan

Your Grand Tour begins at Milan Malpensa, where we meet for the group transfer into the city and the Hotel Indigo. That afternoon, a private guided walk introduces us to the heart of Milan before we return to the hotel for welcome drinks. From there, it’s a short walk to Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone for our first dinner together – a fittingly stylish start to a week devoted to the very best of Italian automotive culture.

Access few travelers ever get

Today begins at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, where we explore the cars, racing history and design that built one of Italy’s most charismatic automotive brands. But the real surprise comes next. Through our personal connections, we have arranged access to the Alfa Blue Team, a remarkable private collection that is simply not part of the usual visitor circuit. After our private visit and lunch, we continue to Franciacorta. Our next stop proves that Italian obsession with beautiful machines extends far beyond cars. At Bellini Nautica, the Riva Vintage Collection celebrates the legendary wooden speedboats that became symbols of Italian glamour around the world. We finish the day at our hotel in Franciacorta with dinner together.

Welcome to Motor Valley

We leave Franciacorta for Modena, one of the most important places on the map for anyone who loves cars. At the Casa Enzo Ferrari, we explore the story of the man and the company that changed the sports car forever. After checking into our hotel, the afternoon is yours, with an optional opportunity to dive even deeper into the Ferrari story. Later, we gather for drinks before heading out for dinner in Modena.

Now we drive

Today we head south into Tuscany. By lunchtime we arrive at Villa Curina, where the next chapter of the journey is waiting outside: our fleet of classic Alfa Romeos. After the car presentation and driver briefing, choose your Alfa and turn the key. The afternoon is dedicated to our first drive through the Tuscan countryside – time to get to know the car, the roads and the rhythm of driving in this remarkable landscape. The evening is free.

5
Pienza & the Crete Senesi

After breakfast, choose your Alfa Romeo and head south toward Pienza, one of Tuscany’s most beautiful Renaissance towns. Enjoy lunch on your own before we explore Pienza with a local guide. Then comes a road made for classic cars. The Crete Senesi rolls across southern Tuscany in a landscape of sculpted hills, cypress trees and long stretches of open road. After returning to Villa Curina, we leave the cars behind for the evening and transfer to Villa a Sesta for dinner at Osteria alla Villa.

6
The road to Volterra

Today we point the Alfa Romeos west toward Volterra, an ancient hill town with roots reaching back to the Etruscans. There is time to find your own spot for lunch before a guided walk takes us through the historic center. In the afternoon, we get back behind the wheel for another great drive through Tuscany. After returning to the hotel, a transfer takes us to Pensieri di Cavatina for our final dinner together.

One last turn of the key

Our final morning begins the way it should: choosing an Alfa Romeo and heading out onto the road. Siena is our destination, where a guided walk introduces us to one of Italy’s most extraordinary medieval cities before lunch on your own. Then it is time for one final drive, continuing toward Monteriggioni and our classic car base in Casone. We return the Alfa Romeos here before transferring to Florence Airport (FLR) for the journey home.

Italy

No country has turned the automobile into an object of desire quite like Italy. Here, engineering was never enough. A car had to look right, sound right and stir something in the person behind the wheel. That philosophy gave the world Alfa Romeo and Ferrari – and the same obsession with beauty and craftsmanship created the legendary Riva boats of the Italian lakes. This journey connects those stories, traveling from Milan through Franciacorta and Modena before finishing where any great Italian road trip should: behind the wheel in Tuscany.

We begin in Alfa Romeo territory. At Arese, the Alfa Romeo Museum traces more than a century of racing, innovation and Italian design, but our next stop takes us much deeper. The Alfa Blue Team is an extraordinary private collection that most visitors to Italy will never have the opportunity to see. This is access built on relationships rather than tickets. From there we continue to Franciacorta – a first for our tours – and Bellini Nautica, home to a remarkable Riva Vintage Collection. These polished mahogany speedboats are as unmistakably Italian as any sports car, forever associated with Lake Como, movie stars and the golden age of la dolce vita. Modena adds another legendary name to the story: Ferrari.

Then the museum doors close and the real driving begins. In Tuscany, a fleet of classic Alfa Romeos is waiting. For the next four days, the experience moves from automotive history to the open road, through Chianti, Pienza, the Crete Senesi, Volterra and Siena. These are the landscapes people picture when they dream of Italy – but from the driver’s seat of a classic Alfa Romeo, they take on an entirely different dimension. Great cars, beautiful roads, memorable food and places that would be worth the journey even without the cars: this is Italy at its best.
