Croatia Driving Experience – Mercedes-Benz

September

About This Tour

Classic Mercedes-Benz cars, winding coastal roads and the blue Adriatic always somewhere in sight. From elegant Opatija to Rovinj, Pula and the island of Krk, this is Croatia experienced the way we like it best: from behind the wheel.

1
Welcome to the Adriatic

Your journey begins at Trieste Airport (TRS), where we meet for the group transfer across the border into Croatia and on to Opatija. After checking into the five-star Hotel Ambasador, we introduce you to the journey ahead and, most importantly, to the classic Mercedes-Benz cars you’ll be driving over the next few days.

That same afternoon, it’s time to get behind the wheel. Our first drive toward Labin is a relaxed introduction to your classic and the roads of the Kvarner region. Back at the hotel, we gather for drinks before leaving the rest of the evening open for you to enjoy Opatija on your own.

The Road to Pula

After breakfast, we point the classics south and head into Istria. Today’s destination is Pula, where more than two thousand years of history are woven into everyday Mediterranean life. A guided visit introduces us to the city and its extraordinary Roman heritage before you have time to explore, enjoy lunch or simply settle in at a café.

In the afternoon, we get back behind the wheel for the drive north to Opatija. Tonight, we come together for dinner at Bevanda, set directly on the waterfront with the Adriatic as our backdrop.

3
Rovinj

Today’s drive takes us across Istria to Rovinj, one of the most beautiful towns on the Croatian coast. Once there, we explore its historic center on foot, following narrow cobblestone streets between colorful centuries-old houses toward the Church of St Euphemia and the views across the Adriatic.

The rest of the afternoon is yours – find a terrace for lunch, wander along the harbor or simply enjoy having nowhere to be for a while. Later, we return to our classics for the drive back to Opatija, where the evening is free.

,
4
Island Drive

One more great drive awaits as we head across the Kvarner Bay toward Krk, one of the largest islands in the Adriatic. Once there, take time to discover historic Krk town, wander through its narrow streets and enjoy lunch by the water before we begin our final drive back to Opatija.

That evening, we trade the driver’s seat for a short transfer to Villa Ariston. Overlooking the Adriatic, it provides the perfect setting for our farewell dinner and one last evening together in Croatia.

One Last Morning by the Sea

Enjoy a final relaxed morning in Opatija – breakfast overlooking the bay, a walk along the waterfront or simply some time at the hotel before heading home. Late morning, we transfer together to Trieste Airport (TRS), bringing our Croatian driving journey to a close.

Croatia

Istria & the Kvarner Bay

Croatia’s northern Adriatic coast has all the ingredients of a great driving destination. Mountains drop toward a brilliant blue sea, centuries-old towns hug the shoreline and quiet roads wind through vineyards, olive groves and forests. Our home for the journey is Opatija, once the seaside playground of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. Grand hotels, ornate villas, beautiful gardens and its waterfront promenade still give the town an appealing sense of old-world glamour.

Just beyond Opatija lies Istria, shaped over centuries by Roman, Venetian and Central European cultures. Pula is home to one of the world’s best-preserved Roman amphitheaters, while Rovinj offers a completely different atmosphere, with colorful houses rising above a picturesque harbor and cobblestone streets winding through its historic center. Across the Kvarner Bay, Krk introduces yet another side of Croatia: an island landscape of historic towns, small bays and wide-open views across the Adriatic.

The food is every bit as memorable as the scenery. Along the coast, fresh fish, scampi and seafood dominate the menu; inland Istria is known for truffles, prosciutto, handmade pasta and outstanding olive oil. Local vineyards produce Malvazija and Teran, two wines closely associated with the region. And then there are the roads – coastal curves, mountain climbs and quiet stretches through the countryside that make the journey itself part of the experience. Behind the wheel of a classic Mercedes-Benz, Croatia is not simply a destination to visit. It is a place to drive.
