Gran Premio Nuvolari Driving Experience – Alfa Romeo

Live Motorsport on Sicily's Most Legendary Roads

September

About This Tour

This trip includes all the highlights of a vintage car trip to southern Tuscany: breathtaking landscapes, delicious food, and a classic rally of its own. Tazio Nuvolari was a racing legend during his lifetime, and in his honour the course of Mille Miglia was modified with part of the race now being held as “Gran Premio Nuvolari”. This trip across autumnal Tuscany allows you to see the historic Mille Miglia race cars at the remake of the “Gran Premio Nuvolari”.

Day 1 – Welcome to Chiantishire

You will be expected by our tour guides at Florence Airport and escorted to your hotel. You will get to know your fellow travelers over an aperitif, after which you will receive a detailed introduction to the vehicles and the use of the road book. The country roads of Chianti have little traffic and are a good way to get to know your Alfa Romeo. Our team will provide you with the latest addresses and insider tips for your individual dinners in Siena.

Day 2 – Pienza and Crete Senesi

Today’s route is lined up with a classic postcard motive to the other. In the southwest of Siena, winding country roads are repeatedly interrupted by small hamlets such as Ville di Corsano, Radi, San Giovanni d’Asso. Partly along the old Roman road Via Cassia, you reach Pienza, the home of the „Pecorino di Pienza“. For your lunch break, either the one from Papst Pius II. small town converted into the ideal of a medieval town; or neighbouring Montalcino, made world-famous by the „Brunello di Montalcino“, enthroned in a unique panoramic position amidst vineyards. The highlight of the afternoon is the crater landscape of the Crete Senesi, steeply sloping clay soils, on whose ridge the country road winds along.

Day 3 – Gran Premio Nuvolari roaring through Tuscany

The pretty sister of the Mille Miglia is coming to Tuscany. The exact route of the Gran Premio is not yet known, but one thing is certain: today you will experience automotive history within reach. Approx. 280 teams will fight for the prestigious victory at the Gran Premio Nuvolari over 1,000 km. In Siena, the participants drive over the beautiful Piazza Il Campo, which gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the valuable racing cars. The highlight is the ride in the Alfa Romeo Spider among the racing teams, let the spectators at the roadside cheer you on and enjoy the unique flair. In the evening we accompany you to an insider’s tip of Tuscan cuisine.

Day 4 – Across Chiantishire at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo

One of the best known Wine regions Italy bears the black rooster on its coat of arms: We are talking about the Chianti Classico. On the wooded hills between Siena and Florence, wine was already cultivated in Roman times. At the beginning of the 20th century, 33 winegrowers gathered to have their wine and the name “Chianti Classico” protected from imitators. Via Radda, Greve and Castellina in Chianti you return to your hotel, where you say goodbye to “your” Alfa Romeos.

Italy

Tuscany is one of the most charming regions in Italy. It impresses with its unique, multi-faceted landscape. Vineyards mix with olive groves and alternate with the very original landscape. Again and again, cypress avenues with slender trees protruding into the blue sky determine the landscape. The “strada bianca” called unpaved access roads to farms and wineries, hotels and restaurants are characteristic of Tuscany. Many of the side streets that repeatedly lead through sleepy villages are hardly used. A backdrop that the Italian film of the 1950s couldn’t do better.

Southern Tuscany is also something for culture lovers: cities like Siena and San Gimignano, fortresses such as the citadel of Dante Alighieri already mentioned in his “Divine Comedy”. Monteriggioni, to name but a few. Believe us, there are few better places to live in a historic city. Alfa Romeo classics on Tuscan Dream Roads to glide along. Enjoy the wind in your hair and the sun in your heart!

Our Guests Say It Best

Discover what our guests say about this tour. Real experiences from drivers and travelers who have explored Europe’s most beautiful roads with us.

The Drives were very enjoyable

The Drives over the four days were very enjoyable and each destination was fascinating and interesting. The Tour Guides for the various tours were knowledgeable and entertaining. Tuscany was a very enjoyable experience with stunning views and a joy to drive in an open top Mercedes SL. The entire Tour was well organised and the Host, Felix, made it enjoyable for all of us. The restaurant in Siena for the Group Dinner was very nice and the food was excellent.

We absolutely loved everything about it

It was an absolute delight and privilege having partaken in your Tuscany tour. Both my partner Rebecca and I weren’t too sure how regimented or strict things would be ( and justifiably so given the nature and rarity of the vehicles) and were just super impressed how generous your company is in letting us drive on such long excursions with these lovely cars. Also the added attention to details like wine tasting and tours of some of the towns was fantastic and a lovely bonus. Secondly the accommodation that you have selected is fantastic. The Borgo Scopeto Relais felt really special and was a perfect backdrop to the splendor of your cars showcased in that environment. Your cars are absolutely lovely. Beautifully presented and the ones that I selected during the tour being the metallic green 280SL , the baby blue Pagoda, the silver 300SL and the copper colored 250 pagoda were just sensational both in presentation and performance. Truely a dream come true. Additionally Alex, Noel and Khari were absolutely fantastic. Bexs and I were so impressed with their demeanour … all professional, kind , polite and attentive. Honestly, we could not fault them and really enjoyed their company. A big thank you for your selection of lovely staff. We absolutely loved everything about it and I congratulate your company for providing such a unique and wonderful experience.

Our trip was exceptional

The organisation of our trip was exceptional from the pick up at the airport to returning on Sunday. We were made very welcome by Felix and Adrian, both of whom possess exacting attention to detail and worked very hard on behalf of the guests. The cars magical, a choice each day and a joy to drive. The group was made up of friendly and interesting people, the restaurants for dinner and lunch were a good choice and the food enjoyable. We shared laughs, photos and stories of our drives each day.

Great holiday in Sicily

Gordon, Julie, Susan and I had a great holiday in Sicily. The arrangements first class, the Quintocanto an ideal location for us to explore Palermo and enjoy the ‘Osterias’ and roof top bars. We also enjoyed Hotel Vallegrande near Cefalu, good food and wine in the evening and healthy breakfasts – the small group of four couples got on well and were good company. Thank you for the gifts of the Alfa, the ruck sack and of course the very valuable phone charger. Gordon and I ‘rolled back the years’ driving your beautiful Alfas, the note of the engines, the smell in the air, the open top motoring and the fabulous roads we drove on, really good fun. Lastly but by no means least, you have two great characters in Felix and Alec, engaging, extremely helpful young men who clearly love what they are doing – a real credit to Nostalgic.

Do go!

Do go! The trips that Walter and Gert are arranging are wonderful. The cars, the food, the scenery – splendid! I went on the Tuscany tour, and loved the hotel as well. But beware, if you haven’t caught the Alfa-bug already, you might. Since my trip I now own an Alfa Romeo Giulia Super from 1973 …These cars are addictive…if possible, I will stop at Il Borgo di Véscine just to remember my visit there with Nostalgic.

Exceptional “classic car driving” experience

Walter and his team were exceptional. Any request was without a problem. As our first tour with Nostalgic our choice of Tuscany was a fabulous introduction. We will be back to have more fun, and an exceptional “classic car driving” experience.
